Richard Wakefield C.E Primary Academy has been praised in its latest Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) report for creating a loving, inclusive and nurturing community where every individual is valued, supported and able to flourish.

The school, which is part of Affinity Learning Partnership, was commended for living out its Christian vision: ‘Let all that you do be done in love.”

The inspector found that this message of love and care is deeply rooted in the life of the school, shaping relationships, worship and leadership.

The report commended the school: “Richard Wakefield is a school where ‘love’ is deeply rooted in biblical teaching and lived out by pupils and adults. As a result, individuals in the school are recognised as important and loved by God.”

Joanne Lowe, Headteacher at Richard Wakefield C.E Primary Academy, said: “Love is at the heart of everything we do. It shapes how we teach, how we care for one another and how we serve our community. We want every child to feel known, valued and loved for who they are, and I’m so proud that this has been recognised in our SIAMS report.”

The report highlighted a number of strengths, including:

  • “The curriculum is shaped by the Christian vision, which places great value on pupils as unique individuals. Learning is designed to help them grow in confidence, curiosity, creativity, and compassion.”
  • “The curriculum is enhanced by a range of outdoor activities and varied school clubs. This enables pupils to develop their individual skills and talents, regardless of their starting points.”
  • “Pupils are actively involved in creating prayers within the classroom, which are then shared during collective worship. This fosters a deeper understanding of who they are as individuals and their impact on others around them.”
  • “The school’s vision of ‘love’ creates an environment where individuals are treated with dignity and respect.”
  • “Adults model nurturing relationships, encouraging pupils to show care and compassion to one another. This is evident in daily interactions, worship and classroom environments.”

The report also praised the partnership between the school and the Affinity Learning Partnership, describing it as “mutually beneficial” and instrumental in sustaining the school’s distinctive Christian character.

Kathy Hardy, CEO of Affinity Learning Partnership, said: “This report is a wonderful affirmation of the love and commitment that shines through every part of Richard Wakefield.

“The school’s vision is lived out in such a genuine and inclusive way - it’s a community where every child and adult can truly flourish.”
