Jane Casey

Headteacher of Lansdowne Infant Academy

BSc (Hons) with Qualified Teacher Status in Primary and Early Years Education, OU, Derby University.

“I am honoured to be the Headteacher at Lansdowne Infant Academy, a place very close to my heart and where my journey into teaching began. I am also proud to be part of the Affinity Learning Partnership, where all staff and pupils do belong, progress and thrive”.

Originally from Yorkshire, I spent over two decades in nursing before a new chapter began when I moved to Staffordshire and I became a parent myself. It was through supporting my own child that I developed a strong interest in education. I went on to train as a teacher, completing the majority of my teaching practice at Lansdowne Infants,  where I am now proud to lead as Headteacher.

I took up my first teaching post in a small village school before returning to Lansdowne three years later.  Since then, I have taught in every year group and over the years, I have led on English, Science, Pupil Premium, Phonics, and Early Years, areas I care deeply about. I also held the position of Leader of Learning at the school before being appointed as the Vice Principal.

I am especially passionate about early education. I firmly believe that without high-quality, firm foundations in learning, children will struggle as they progress through the school system. That’s why I feel so privileged to lead a team of like-minded staff who work together to give every child the best possible start in life.

Outside of school, I love spending time with my family, walking in the countryside and enjoying holidays in the Lake District and the Greek Islands, perfect places to relax and recharge.
